These pictures may look like your run of the mill hunting shots, but actually they represent something very special.
When I first got our puppy, my plan was to hike, bike, run and generally enjoy the outdoors with her. We have had shorthairs since before I was born, but this is the first one I have owned and trained myself. I had never been hunting.
The breeder asked if we would test her in NA and suggested we come along to the Potomac Chapter training days. I said sure, sounds like fun, why not...
Fast forward just over a year and a half and I was out shooting the first bird over my dog (and my first game bird), with an excellent mentor and friend.
I force fetched my dog myself with the help of many members of the chapter and my very patient husband and the encouragement of other newcomers to the Chapter going through the same process.
I have spent every weekend I could in the outdoors training my dog, learning and making friends and memories.
I hope I will be posting here in the future celebrating a VC title for my dog, but if not, that's ok too. NAVHDA is so much more than training and testing and I encourage anyone that is thinking of joining to give it a go. You never know where the journey will take you.
